Our practice is located in Dell Rapids, SD. There is local housing available and we are just 20 miles north of the largest city in the state. The commute up the interstate may be quicker than your commute across Sioux Falls.
Practice Overview
Established in 2006, Dells Veterinary Services is a privately-owned, AAHA accredited practice serving high-end livestock herds as well as offering top of the line pet care. Our clients RAVE about us because we are passionate about educating and delivering the highest quality veterinary care. We believe in elevating everyone from our staff to our clients, and we do this through a dedication to excellent service and continuous learning. We have an 8,400sqft facility with all the bells and whistles for equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house bloodwork and urinalysis, gas anesthesia in our surgical and dental suites along with cold laser, digital dental x-rays, and Midmark 3 dental equipment. We hire kennel attendants, a cleaning company and customer service representatives so our techs can focus on the things they went to school for. What You’ll Be Working On
Engaging and communicating with clients promoting education and preventative care
Assisting with patient history, restraint, charges, estimates and client education in the exam room
Monitoring patient conditions during treatments, procedures and hospitalization.
Performing laboratory procedures and x-rays to assist in diagnosis and treatments
Preparing medications for both outpatient and inpatients
Administering anesthetics or sedatives to control pain under direction of a veterinarian
Preparing surgical equipment, including sterilization, and ensuring that the operating room is properly stocked, sterilized and ready for surgery; This includes maintaining equipment on a regular schedule.
Spearheading dental health for companion animals by performing dental exams, x-rays and cleanings.
Assisting the receptionists as needed and assume their duties during their absence
Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
Must have an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology. Certification is preferred, not required
Willing to work four, 10.5 -hour shifts plus 1 out of 4 Saturday mornings during the school year.
Be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
Be highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for service and continuous learning
Demonstrate commitment to ethics and integrity
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong organization, time management skills, with attention to detail
Have a strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques

Compensation varies due to experience and contributions to the clinic . Starting wage is $18-21.50/hour based on experience plus opportunities for production bonuses
Paid lunch time and no emergency shifts. We are closed on Saturdays during the summer and techs work only one out of 4 Saturdays during the school year
